In business Management, one major factor that determines how you will operatete is the Structure of your entity.
This issue of structure also applies to countries.
When the structure is right, the conduct will be right and then, the end result will be good performance.
Some states are labouring to become great while some just fold their hands to share whatever is brought to the central purse by other states that are working so hard.
Different People have written and spoken about this same issue but when a blacksmith is hitting the iron on the same spot, it means there is a mark there to correct.
We need to address the following 10 issues among others as we move towards 1st October, 2020 to celebrate 60 years of Independence which is less than 3 months.
1.Who should be collecting VAT. ( State or Federal)?
2. How should we share Education Tax and who should be in charge.(State or Federal).?
3. How should National Assembly people be paid.? Just like Federal Permanent Secretaries or what?
4. How should our Police System be? Definitely, we need to have a structure that will.enhance security of lives and properties.State Policing...Long Overdue.?
5. What should we do on Accountability of Security Votes in States....Should it be as usual, more or less part of the Governor's Allowance which can be spent as he Wishes in any state.? Very serious matter.
6.Our Electoral System..Very Highly Monetized .We need to Change that...We need to migrate to Electornic Voting
7. Quality of Leadersship: Who should run for office.? Age, Experience, Education, Exposure, Personality, Integrity, Kindness, Probity etc .
8 .Our Constitution..Is it really ours? We the people it reads...Are we trully the author?
9. Agriculture...Which tier of government should be in charge of Agriculture .Federal, State or Local Government...Where are the farms and the Farmers.
10.Decentralisation of Power Generation and Distribution.
From the current structure, it is extremely very difficult for proper conduct and the end result is poor performance.
Rather than for the country to have Public wealth, individuals just suddenly become very wealthy simply by occupying a position in government and the people citizens suffer for it.
One can then conclude that the problem is systemic.
This system problem is the main reason for bad conduct and poor performance.
To underscore this systemic problem; we some good people, as soon as they get jnto politics or in certain position by appointment or win election; suddenly they just begin to do as the bad ones they once criticized.
The same corruption they condemned will suddenly become part of their lives.
Changed by the system from good to bad and those that are already bad end up becoming worst and sometimes becomes like demons.
If we do not address those issues , We would NOT have those things we cry daily about such as Good Roads, Good Rail System, Healthcare, Security, Quality Education, Power/ Electricity, Transparency and Accountability.
If we want a Nigeria that we all desire, we must address ONE MAJOR issue which has two effects:
1.MAIN ISSUE: STRUCTURE
a. Behavioral effects:
Bad Conduct of Leaders & Everyone in leadership..
Even within the Private Sector as their is a link between government and the Private Sector.
b. Result Implication:
Poor Performance.
We must state what we want leaders to do within 3 months, 6 months and 1 year based on the State/Country resources in their hands.
60 years is not small at all.If a man is 60 he is not expected to be crawling and he is expected to be wise.
Who Rise Up for our Country to address these Critical Issue of Structure.?
