Few days ago, I was at a Park called Levy in Houston Texas in USA. I saw a young girl of about 17 years old walking her dog and suddenly the dog stopped to excrete on the field.
As soon as the dog finished, this girl brought out nylon, one like a hand gloves and another like a container , she cleaned everything and went straight to drop in a waste disposal.
There is a system in place and the orientation of all dwellers of that land is the same.They know the implication for people that want to relax on the grass.
Yet you will see a Professor throwing stuffs from his car on the highway in Nigeria.
People will see drainage dirty right in front of their house and they will leave it.
People will build without drainage and space for public amenities.
I wept for Nigeria my country as I observed from about 20 metres from the girl.
My conclusion is that; a nation can never develop without a system.
A country where a Governor can do and undo and no one can talk. A country where political office holders has no regard for rule of law and system can never develop.
I visited an uncle also who invested in Nigeria and his experience was that 99% of workers wanted to destroy the company by stealing even close persons that he trusted. Bad culture and system.
Young ladies were stealing and keeping money inside the cloak room without thinking about the loan and interest the man was going to pay
Like many others, he began to opt out of Investment in Nigeria and people complaining of high rate of unemployment in Nigeria. Hmmmmmm....Those creating the jobs are been discouraged by workers and the entire system including multiple taxation and harassment with unreasonable tax assessment.
Today, politicians in Nigeria are in the forefront of disregard for systems and rule of law because they believe that with their money, there will be no consequence for their actions and in actions even after office.High level of impunity every where.
We have strong men without strong Institutions. Although to me those are not strong men but crafty men.
The way out:
1.To move Nigeria forward, we must have a strong electoral system where votes can count and rigging becomes an abomination.
2.Conflict of Interest must be dealt with in a strong way.
3.Police and all security agencies must have staff recruited from.the best brains in the society and MUST BE WELL PAID.
4.National orientation agency must be headed by people who understands reforms.
5.Wealth without work must be regarded as a SIN.
6.Companies engaged in business must be allowed to operate under ease of doing business environment .
7.Road Safety officers, Police, VIO and others must stop disturbing people engaged in commercial activities on our roads.
It seems creating employment is a crime because the trouble is just too much for people in business.
8.Government must stop the habit of cheating people by failing to issue C of O on time or by charging people to pay again for C of O already issued by government.
9.Government must be a continuous entity and not one where everything changes because a new person is in leadership.
10.In conclusion, I had a chat with a brother from my town and he concluded by saying, "Where there is no consequence for wrong doing, evil doers will be multiplied in the land"(Quote Modified by me).
When a leader fail to perform, he must not be re-elected or re-appointed.
.That way, people will know that performance has reward.
This should be the Standard anywhere there is a system.
When a staff misbehave, punishment should not be delayed so that others can learn from such punitive actions and avoid such route or action in future.(Mercy could be extended but with a limit .)
