Adieu, Dr. Obadiah Mailafia
On behalf of the entire members of The Business Package family, we mourn the loss of a man of intellect and great wisdom, Dr. Obadiah Mailafia whose sad death occurred on 19th September, 2021
Dr. Mailafia was a fearless critic and public commentator who at every point in time spoke truth to power and help to hold government accountable to the people.
His death marks a departure of an era as " an ardent defender of democratic ideals and a dogged fighter for the cause of the common man has bowed out"
The Business Pacakge family recall his role when the race heated up for the appointment of Dr. Ngozi Okonjo Iweala as the Director General of the World Trade Organisation. His chronicle of events on the WTO headship was a delightful read that was adopted as one of the editorial materials used in winning the arguments in favour of our own Dr. Mrs Ngozi Okonjo Iweala who had since assumed the exalted post.
As he joins the saints triumphant, we are of the view that Dr Mailafia would be sorely missed for his poignant views against the powers that be and his fearless analysis of issues to set the record straight at all times, which always places him on the side of the masses.
May his soul rest in perfect peace.
