Nigerian Journalists have again been reminded of the need to continue to place emphasis on the virtues of the profession especially the golden rule.
A veteran journalist,Mr.Tayo Tejuoso gave the reminder in a chat describing the golden rule as central to good journalism.
The veteran journalist who retired from the model nation's station OGBC as Director of News&Current Affairs said that except practitioners pursue excellence in reportage and constantly keep their ears to the ground, journalism risks being trampled upon.
Mr.Tejuoso admonished current practitioners to always resist the temptation of breaking news without first ensuring the authenticity and validity of such news stressing that the social media is introducing different unethical ways of reporting and breaking news.
While urging the real Media practitioners to jealously guard the fundamentals of the profession, the OGBC retired News Director also advised the various employers of journalists especially broadcasters to always consider the welfare of the employees,a priority.
