The Holy spirit may mean different things to different people. As a matter of fact, some people do not believe in the Holy spirit. It is a matter of choice. But, to those who have encountered the Holy Spirit, they are well abreast of who the Holy spirit is and they always cherish the experience. The Holy spirit is regarded as the third of the Trinity. Many people have also find it difficult to comprehend how God can manifest in three ways: God the Father, God the son and God the Holy spirit. To the uninitiated,this may remain a misery. And, until the veil is removed, one may not clearly understood what it meant to have the holy spirit guiding one's affairs.The sure thing is that with the Holy spirit, you can never go wrong. Since, you can't go wrong with God you sure can't go wrong with the Holy Spirit.
The Holy spirit is God in you. In the Christian Theology,there is a whole subject matter devoted to the study of tbe Holy spirit known as " *PNEUMATOLOGY*, which simply means the study of the spirit.
The reason for this study in the Body of knowledge of the scripture is to distinguish between the Spirit of God represented by the Holy Spirit and other kinds of spirits. Yes, other kinds of spirits. There are spirits and there are spirits. One of our tutors at the School of Theology did told us that the spirit of the devil and that of God are moving about on the surface of the heart and that you have to be careful about which is which. This is about having a spirit of discernment. To know when it is not the spirit of God and when it is. That is a topic for another day though.
The truth is that, there are multitude of other spirits that overs around human masquerading as the holy spirit. Except it is God led, it might sometimes be difficult to distinguish between the spirit of the evil ones and the spirit of God which is the Holy spirit. There are lots of evil and deceptive spirits which are being used to deceive and mislead the people, especially those who subject themselves to such. Perhaps ,the best way to distinguish the Spirit of God from the other spirits is to understand what the Holy spirit is and what it really stands for. We can also discern the spirit of God through its manifestation.
As we make attempt to understand the working and characteristics of the Holy Spirit, I pray that the spirit of God will reveal itself to us and provide us the opportunity to known Him better.
It is apt to submit here that the spirit of God sometimes is beyond human comprehension. But truth is that those who seek him in truth and indeed gets to understand and know him better.
The Holy spirit like the characteristics of God is omnipresent, omnipotent and omniscience. The holy spirit finds you where ever you are ,whether you are awake or asleep. He knows you,even before you were born. The scriptures says" before i formed thee in the womb, I knew thee". Jeremiah 1:5.
It is however important to know that, getting the holy spirit to abide with you or in you is a matter of choice. If you invite him, he will come to your life or dwellings. How do you invite him?. You invite the Holy spirit by doing things that are pleasing to God. When you love God, he will send his spirit to reveal to you the deep things of God.
In 1 Corinthian ,2:10 the Holy spirit is seen as the third person of the God head; God the Father; God the son and God the Holy spirit. He brings us knowledge and messages from the Holy throne. One of my teachers in the ministry describe the holy spirit as " high level information career", someone who usually reveal things that are hidden to people who made themselves available. As said earlier, the best way to make yourself available to The holy spirit is to overcome the flesh and ensure that your body truly becomes the temple of God, it was meant to be . When your body becomes the temple of God, he dwells in it easily and he does not only dwell in it, he takes total control of the flesh within and act as a partner in progress in the day to day affairs of such bodily flesh.
You can't do anything successfully, unless he arrives.You must verify that his presence is in what you are about to do. Moses said, do not send us, if your presence will not go with us .
The LORD replied, "My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest." Then Moses said to him, "If your Presence does not go with us, do not send us up from here. How will anyone know that you are pleased with me and with your people unless you go with us? Exodus 33:15 .
The Holy spirit is a helper; the comforter. Holy spirit allows you to see things clearly when others are merely looking...
The four fold Ministry of the Holy Spirit...
1. Guidance ; You can have direction, without having the guidance..Guidance is step by step of how to do things.
2.Direction: He shows you the way
3. Revelation: He opens you to the misery of the kingdom
4. Administrator of the Power of God, through which he empowers the Saint.
Three things that attracts the Holy spirit to you.
1. The presence of God is atmosphere dependent .You must create the atmosphere. You can turn your house, living room or anywhere into a sanctuary where his presence will be made manifest. Once the atmosphere is charged , you can rest assured that the Holy Spirit will descend and be with you all the way.

2.The Holy spirit relates with people from a condition or situation of brokenness. You must be completely broken like David would do. A broken and a contrite heart. This means total repentance. Being fully conscious of your sins or misdeeds and making efforts to restitute. The scripture reported that as a way of being broken, David would put himself in Sack Cloth , like someone in mourning mood and he will be rolling over in ashes. Be broken, let your sin breaks you.
3. Obedience to his voice and instructions. He could say, observe three days fast, make a sacrifice, make an offering. Forgive others their sins . The grace to ear his voice is golden, but when you ear it, hearken to it...
One thing I have discovered about the Holy Spirit is that ,he doesn't relate with people when they are unforgiven. Most often,he would bring to your consciousness the name and personality of those people you are holding grudges against and he would instruct you to make amends before he can work with you. So, obedience and forgiveness works together. He does not always like when people wrestle or argues with him.When you argues with him too much, he will just keep quiet and most likely gently depart or walk away.. May His Presence not depart from us . Amen.
