School Owner holds boy-child mentorship seminar By Idris Katib

All roads lead to the Nigerian Institute of Journalism,Ogba, Lagos, the venue of Boy Child Mentorship Initiative scheduled for 30th November, 2023.

The mentorship initiative is one-day mentorship masterclass being put together by Mrs Abosede Modupe Adeleye-Ojo,  a certified educator and Proprietor of First Rock Montessori School, Lagos.

According to the convener Modupe Adeleye-Ojo, her major inspiration of the programme came from her experience as school owner and education manager.

She acknowledged that the support of her husband, Mr Adeleye Bayo Ojo has made her dream of the programme a manifestation of reality.

She said "I see women extorting their husbands on tuition fees coupled with the stress men go through these days.

"Also raising my son with accompanying expectations from him leads me to worries. In fact, there is too much pressure on the boy child ", Modupe Adeleye-Ojo explained.

The convener further revealed that the essence of the mentorship seminar is to save the future of boy-child.

A sharp decline in performance of boy child at schools vis-a-vis their girl child counterparts across all continents has been a source of worry to scholars, parents education experts and other stakeholders.

These days, girls cart away most of the school prizes at Prize Giving, Open Days, and Convocation Ceremonies. On the other hand , most boys are found breaking the school rules and engaging in most crimes.

This will be the Crux of the matter at the Mentorship Class themed "Mentoring, Impacting Creativity and Resilience in Boy Child" to be discussed by captains of industry.

Expected special guests of honour at the event are Hon. Kabir Ogungbo, Special Adviser to Lagos State governor on revenue and taxation, Hon. Abubakr Ogunlende, Lagos Commissioner for Youth and Social Development and Chief Abayomi Otubela, President of National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools.
