The General Overseer of Victory Life Bible Church, Apostle Lawrence Achudume has urged Nigerians not to lose hope despite the economic challenges facing the nation, even as Christmas draws nearer.
Apostle Achudume gave the admonition in a sermon during the 2024 Christmas Carol and Service of four Lessons at the Victory City, Ajebo Road on Friday.
As many people worldwide are struggling to make ends meet, Apostle Achudume emphasized that this is not the time to lose hope or let their faith be weary.
He encouraged believers to hold on to God, stressing that God remains faithful even in the midst of adversity.
The cleric attributed the growing trend of doubting the Church and its leaders to a lack of personal encounter with God.
According to Apostle Achudume, his personal experiences have proven God's faithfulness. "My life is a testament to God's unwavering faithfulness," he said.
While reacting on the erroneous believe among the generality of the people that Jesus, the Church and even Pastors are scams, Apostle Achudume attributed this to ignorance saying if people truly encounter Christ, they will be cured of such believe.
" It is an erroneous believe for anyone to say Jesus Christ,the Church and even Pastors are scams. Those who are in the habit of making such blasphemous statements should desist because it can attract the wrath of God."
According to him, Jesus Christ is not something anyone can read in books but something to be experienced, saying unless and until people encounter Jesus,they may be having a doubt about his existence.
The man of God further stated that the issue of calling the Church a scam didn't begin today, but something that had been there since the time of the early Christians, saying when people allow circumstances of life to make them derail, they ended up saying Jesus is a scam.
Apostle Achudume further stated that, when people say Jesus is a scam, and that the Church is a scam, it simply means they are lost in the world, urging the people to remain in christ as they will experience some inner joy, even in the storm of life.
Apostle Achudume urged believers to remain steadfast in their faith, assuring them that they would experience inner joy, of they so do, despite life's challenges.
The cleric further emphasized that Jesus Christ is the embodiment of hope, and that His birth signifies the hope of salvation for humanity.
The First lessons from the Carol service was read from the book of Isiah 9:2 , second lesson from the book of Luke 1:1-7,third lesson from Luke 1:18-14 and the fourth lesson from Isiah 60:1-7.
The Carol and Service of Four Lessons was characterised by a colourful and fulfilled activities, featuring the rendition of hymns, dance, songs ministration of different shades, praise worship, drama sketch among others.
Dignitaries present include, the wife of the former Governor ,Mrs Olufunso Amosun who read the third lesson, ministers of God from different denominations, representatives of the new Vice Chancellor of Chrisland University, Abeokuta ,General Manager of the Ogun State Television among others.
