OGUN TARGETS N500 BILLION IGR FOR 2026.

The Ogun State governor Prince Dapo Abiodun has set a target of five hundred billion naira as internally revenue generated, IGR, for the Ministries, Departments and agencies, MDAs,in the state in the 2026 budget

Governor Abiodun who gave the target this midweek at the treasury board meeting on year 2026-2028 medium term expenditure framework (MTEF) and the 2026 budget held at obas complex, okemosan in Abeokuta noted that the amount of money generated as internally revenue generated in the 2025 budget was unimpressive

Mr governor therefore tasked the Ogun internal revenue service, OGIRS, to generate two hundred and fifty billion naira out of the targeted IGR while other viable Ministries such as ministry of urban and regional planning, education, science and technology, lands and others to balance up the remaining two hundred and fifty billion naira

The governor explained that his administration has put all the necessary logistics in place such as good road network, security and others to increase the state's internally generated revenue noting that the policies have yielded positive results with the proliferation of companies across the state

He urged the heads of the various Ministries to leverage the available opportunity to increase their budget performances in 2026

Governor Abiodun while commending the various Ministries for their performances in 2025, charged the Ogun state property investment corporation, OPIC, and the ministry of housing to form a synergy towards increasing the number of affordable housing units in the state to ten thousand which he said is unprecedented in the history of the state

Governor Abiodun added that the ongoing urban renewal and regeneration scheme taking place in the three senatorial districts is aimed at repositioning the state to a greater height

On education, Mr governor promised to set up a committee that will comprise experts from the building sector towards the rehabilitation of the publuc schools due for repairs in the state assuring that the state government is poised in providing a conducive learning environment for students across the state
