The Founder and Chief Executive Officer Pomogranate Nigeia Limited ( PNL), a third-party logistics company, Mr. Wole Elusakin, has called on the Federal Government to urgently address the issue of multiple taxation, which is seriously affecting private businesses.
He made this appeal in Abeokuta on Friday, at the end of the company's management budget session and retreat.
According to Mr. Elusakin governments can do a lot for private businesses in the areas of addressing multiple billings and tax harmonisation.
"We have to content with multiple billings. This is because each local governments or State we drive through with our trucks, we have to pay. So there is the need for the federal government to come in and unify the taxes. This is because, all of the cost incurred are invariably passed to our clients who in turn passed them to the consumers, thereby increasing the financial burden on them."
He expressed optimism that the new tax laws being implemented will address the issue, but urged the Federal Government to do more in communicating the policy for better public understanding.
"We expect the Federal Government to communicate the policy effectively, so we can understand how it will impact our business," he implied.
Speaking on the retreat and the company's theme for 2026, "Impossible is Nothing," Mr. Elusakin said, "At the beginning of every year, we have what we call budget session, which is usually characterized by retreat and a bonding session. We concluded the budget session and we are now on the retreat which is all about team bonding".
"This team bonding of course brought us to Abeokuta where we visited the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, the Wildlife park and the Olumo Rock for the mountain climbing experience."
He further said, "We believe that for a team to achieve the set targets, there is the need for a renewed energy and we need a team to achieve a target, it is not an individual effort. And we are so happy to have Odunlade Adekola, a frontline Nollywood actor, join us to inspire our team. He is a successful actor and we expect that we can leverage his fame and draw some inspiration from him to be able to push into the new year."
"The theme for this year is 'Impossible is Nothing', which means that whatever target we set to achieve as a team is achievable and I'm happy that the entire team is already imbibing the spirit," Mr. Elusakin added.
Nollywood actor Odunlade Adekola who was invited to inspire the team challenged staff to key into the theme, saying, "I'm delighted to identify with Pomogranate Nigeria Limited, especially being in the midst of people who are self-inspired and have the ability to thread new grounds".
" I challenge staff to key in into the theme for the year which is 'Impossible is Nothing', and make it a reality."
The evening also provided a platform for engaging discussions between Odunlade Adekola and the PNL leadership, where The Founder/CEO, Wole Elusakin, announced that Pomegranate Nigeria Ltd will soon be launching PNLHub, Africa's first cargo-hailing ride platform, and the app is already available for download on Android (Play Store) and iOS, with web access via (link unavailable).
"Notably, discussions are ongoing regarding a potential collaboration between Odunlade Adekola and Pomegranate Nigeria Ltd, with PNLHub at the centre of a forthcoming app launch campaign," he stated.
The Head of Finance of Pomogranate Nigeria Ltd , Mrs. Dorothy Okunoye, received the Manager of the Year award, saying, "The award to me came as a surprise because it was the least expected.
