Education remains the cornerstone of development and the foundation upon which futures are built and it is therefore the key to unlocking potential.
The Rector of First City Polytechnic, Abeokuta Dr. Isaiah Oyeyinka stated on Thursday at the 2nd Matriculation Ceremony of the Polytechnic held at its campus in Quary Road, Abeokuta emphasizing that every child must acquire education first, for it is the bedrock of success, the catalyst for growth, and the passport to a brighter tomorrow.
The Rector, in an address, welcomed students to the institution, declaring them bonafide members upon taking the matriculation oath while urging them to adhere to the institution's rules, prioritize academic excellence and avoid vices like cultism and fraud.
The Rector emphasized the institution's commitment to students' success, with quality lecturers and dedicated workforce, while warning against disobedience, stating that penalties, including community service, would be enforced on any students who violated the institution's rules.
A Senior Lecturer from the Yaba College of Technology, Lagos, Dr. Adeyemi Aromolaran in a goodwill message, prayed for students' success and advised them to build good character and relationships.
The JAMB representative, Miss Abiola Adekunle in a remark said the matriculation ceremony is the end of the admissiom process while emphasized compliance with JAMB regulations, urging the students to prioritize their studies.
The Chairman of the Board of the Polytechnic, Barrister Taiwo Adeoluwa represented by Mr. Clement Olusegun assured parents that their children were in safe hands, highlighting the institution's focus on innovation, talent development, and integrity.
Also speaking,the Bursar of Gateway ICT Polytechnic Saapde Alhaji Waheed Gbadamosi urged students to comply with the institution's rules and take advantage of skill acquisition programs.
The ceremony concluded with a call to students to be good ambassadors, respect time, and prioritize academic excellence. #
