The Olota of Otta, His Majesty Oba Professor Adeyemi AbduKabir Obalanlege, has unveiled the official logo for his Diamond Jubilee birthday celebration and constituted a three-member committee to coordinate week-long activities scheduled for 21st to 28th August 2026. The celebration will culminate in a Grand Reception on Friday, 28th August 2026.
The commemorative logo was unveiled on Tuesday at the Olota Palace, Ipeti Square, Otta. Describing the design, the Principal Secretary to the Olota, Prince Adeyemi Sulaimon Olusesi, said: “The logo is an elegant and masterfully crafted piece that eloquently captures the majesty, courage, nobility and regal essence of His Majesty. The rich blend of royal colours, accentuated in gold and purple, projects splendour and prestige while heralding the significance of this Diamond Jubilee milestone.” He added: “It stands as a visual celebration of six remarkable decades of purposeful leadership, cultural stewardship, scholarship and service to humanity.”
The monarch also approved a three-member Planning Committee comprising Aare Ayodele Bankole, Otun Maiyegun of Otta, as Chairman; High Chief Abayomi Olanrewaju Basorun, the Seriki of Otta; and High Chief Adedayo Akindele Eleku, the Lisa of Otta. All three are members of the Olota-in-Council. Prince Olusesi said: “The distinguished chiefs have been entrusted with organising a truly royal celebration befitting a monarch whose visionary leadership has firmly placed Ottaland and the Awori Sub-Nationality in national consciousness.”
The week-long Diamond Jubilee will feature cultural, traditional, religious, community and royal activities celebrating the life and legacy of the Olota. The Grand Reception on 28th August 2026 will have Fuji icon King Ayinde Marshall, KWAM 1, on the bandstand.
Expected at the Grand Reception are Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima as Special Guest of Honour and Chairman of the Occasion; former President Chief Olusegun Obasanjo as Father of the Day; Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun as Chief Host; Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola as Host; and the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, as Royal Father of the Day and Chairman-at-Large.
Prince Olusesi said: “The Diamond Jubilee Celebration of His Majesty, Professor Adeyemi AbdulKabir Obalanlege, Ph.D., Lanlege Ekun II, promises to be a historic gathering that will celebrate not only the life of an exceptional monarch, but also the rich cultural heritage, unity, progress and aspirations of the Awori people.”
