Series #85: Fuel Storage at Home Should Be Discouraged

The Secure Mind

Daily Security Tips That Train Your Thinking

Storing petrol, diesel, kerosene, and other flammable substances inside homes should be avoided whenever possible. What may seem like a convenient solution can quickly become a serious danger to your family, neighbours, and property.

Fuel is highly flammable and can easily ignite when exposed to heat, electrical sparks, open flames, cooking gas, candles, mosquito coils, or faulty wiring. Even a small fuel spill or poorly sealed container can release vapours that increase the risk of fire or explosion.

If fuel must be stored for a legitimate reason, it should be kept only in approved containers, in the smallest practical quantity, and in a well-ventilated area away from living spaces, children, and all possible sources of ignition. Communities should also continue to educate residents on the dangers of unsafe fuel storage and encourage safe handling practices.

Quote: A small quantity of fuel stored carelessly can cause a major disaster. Safety begins with responsible storage.

Just be good. Reflect. Stay alert.
