Ogun State government, under the leadership of Prince Dapo Abiodun, said the state would continue to leverage the vast comparative advantages the state enjoys in key areas of the economy, especially agriculture and manufacturing.
In the production of rice and other high valued cash crops, the governor said it would further encourage both Small and Large scale farmers in the state.
The State Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr Adeola Odedina, representing the governor while receiving the representatives of Okun rice in his office at Oke- Mosan Abeokuta, who paid a courtesy visit to him, revealed that one of the vision of the current administration is to leverage on the strengths of the private sector to deliver on food security, and economic sustainability for the people.
To further consolidate on the state’s efforts at boosting the agric sector, he said government is in collaboration with other Private rice producers to develop the state agric policy and investment plan. This he noted will further put the state as the number one destination of choice in agriculture and other agro-allied services.
Speaking, the chief executive officer of Okun Rice, informed the commissioner that the company has already started installation of facilities that will enable the state add additional 100/MT per day into its rice production. He also noted that the company is ready to collaborate with the State government in areas of training farmers and Young Producition Entrepreneurs for sustainable supply of paddy under various linkage and outgrower and Job creation programmes with Finance and other agencies of the State government.
