The Chairman of the Ogun State Chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, (NIPR) Mr. Lekan Togunwa has been conferred with a Professional Accomplishment Award courtesy of the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnic, (ASUP), Moshood Abiola Polytechnic,Abeokuta Chapter.
The Award presentation took place at an elaborate event held at the DAKTAD Hotels,Events and Suites, Quary road Abeokuta on the occasion of the Union's 3rd Annual Retreat.
The Award was in recognition of the honour brought to the union and by extension the institution through various public engagements of the Awardees, especially his leadership and Professional Accomplishment as the the number one person in the image making profession in Ogun State.
The Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnic, Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta Chapter, Mr. Babatunde Osifalujo in a remark appreciated the awardees including the former Rector of the Polytechnic, Dr. Samson Odedina and the Commissioner for Local government and Chieftaincy Affairs in the state, Mr. Afolabi Afuape both of whom are an integral part of the Polytechnic for hoisting the flag at the highest mast and doing the institution proud in their respective endeavours.
He expressed gratitude to God that after years of storm , MAPOLY is back to reckoning and that the initial lull in the activities of the institution has indeed given birth to a new lease of life which every stakeholders will be proud of.
Siad he " We took over in the midst of crisis that some believe will envelope our institution, but here we are today with a new lease of life. Thanks to the Almighty God who has been our help and to the goodwill of His Excellency, Prince( Dr.) Dapo Abiodun (MFR) the Executive Governor of Ogun State"
And in recognition of the exemplary role of the number one citizen of the state towards the restoration of the institution, the Governor , Prince Dapo Abiodun was honoured as Distinguished Eminent Awardee, while his Chief of Staff, Alhaji Shuaib Afolabi Salisu also bagged distinguished personality award.
Other staffers of the institution also honoured with the Professional accomplishment Award in line with their accomplishments in different walks of life, included the current Registrar Nigerian Institute of Builders of Nigeria, Mrs. Osho Fatimoh Abolore, Townplanner,Oladunjoye Arowosegbe, Chairman, Western Forum of Nigeria Institution of Town Planners , Engr. Dr. Olanrewaju Apampa, Chairman , Nigeria Society of Engineers , Ogun State Chapter, and Dr. Babatunde Adekoyejo Jolaoso, Board Member Architects Registration Council of Nigeria.
The Chief Executive Officer KEBLAT Hotels and Suites, Alhaji Salisu Azeez Emiola was also conferred with Distinguished Personality Award.
Earlier in a remark , the Acting Rector of the institution , Dr. Adeoye Odedeji had called for unity on the part of staffers of the institution, saying the revalidation of MAPOLY which has just been accomplished calls for unity of purpose among satffers.
Odedeji said " This is a new MAPOLY,better .Mapoly with great potential. Don't create camps or break the ranks by creating confusion and crisis"
" We are poised to bring about a new MAPOLY with this revalidation. You won't be considering other places to work. That is the value we want to put in place" , he stated further .
Dr. Odedeji had earlier informed that Mapoly was on the 6th of February,2020 through a revalidation team led by, Chairman of Chairmen of the Governing Council of Nigerian Polytechnics, Alhaji Abubakar Muhammed revalidated, thus putting a stop to the earlier confusion which almost stagnates the institution.
He informed that a high-impact Technology Incubation Centre which is to be built at a cost of 1 billion naira is soon to spring up at Mapoly before the end of the year, while noting that the institution is soon to commence the Award of Bachelor's of Technology, without affiliating to any institution.
" And of course, by the grace of God ,we will begin to award Bachelor's of Technology without affiliating to any institution. When we do that, all the Polytechnics in the South West would be depending on us, because all their National Diploma graduates will run to us ", he said .
