In a bid to ensure a more seamless human and vehicular movements, the Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Olakunle Oluomo has urged the State Ministry of Works and Infrastructure as well as the State Public Works Agency to put palliative measures on the failed portions of Lagos- Abeokuta road especially at the Sango Garage.
Oluomo, who made the request at the plenary while responding to the submission of the Majority Leader and a member representing Ado-Odo/Ota I State Constituency, Yusuf Sheriff also called for the rehabilitation of the Ijaye Gbangba and Iporo Ake Bridges in the Abeokuta South I State Constituency with fixture of precautionary measures on the bridges in response to the submission of a member representing Abeokuta South I State Constituency, Yusuf Adejojo.
Oluomo also requested the private sector operators in the axis to emulate their colleagues along Papalanto-Ewekoro road by contributing their quota in the provision of palliatives through corporate social responsibility.
He equally advised the Assembly's Chief Whip and a member representing Odogbolu State Constituency, Atinuke Bello to further engage her Federal House of Representatives counterpart, with a view to finding lasting solution to ecological issues which affected some communities in her constituency .
Also at the plenary, a member representing Sagamu II State Constituency, Hon. Ademola Adeniran presented two petitions before the Assembly; one of the petitions called for the immediate disbandment and conduct of election of Local Executive Committee of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), with another against land grabbing in Ajebo, Oke-Ate in Makun.
Meanwhile, the Assembly through its Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs Committee led by Hon Akeem Balogun, has appealed to residents of Ojowo in Ijebu-Igbo, including the Etitale Quarters and other ruling Houses to maintain peace and tranquility pending the resolve of issues surrounding the stool of Olokine of Ojowo.
Balogun gave the advice during an interactive session with contending groups in the chieftaincy matter including elders in the area, stressing that the Assembly was irrevocably concerned to ensuring the sustainability of peace and progress in all communities in the State as development could only take place when there is peace.
