The Ogun State Commissioner for Industry, Trade and Investment, Mrs. Kikelomo Longe says the Prince Dapo Abiodun-led administration is creating a robust frame work for turning the State into Industrial destination of choice for investors.
Mrs. Longe made this known at a manufacturing company, Celplas Limited, Sagamu during an industrial tour stating that the drive to make the State the preferred investment destination and address challenges facing businesses has led to the initiation of various policies and establishment of different Agencies.
" We are not oblivious of the numerous challenges confronting our investors. The conscious and proactive efforts have birthed the establishment of relevant Agencies like the Ogun State Investment Promotion and Facilitation Agency (OGUNINVEST), Ogun State Public Works Agency ( OGPWA), Ogun State Enterprise Development Agency as well as the establishment of the Ogun State Business Environment Council (OGBEC) to improve the Ease of Doing Business and thicken the economic base," she said.
The Commissioner lauded the management of the company for the diversification of its products, processing and packaging as well as the actualisation of a Free Trade Zone status.
She assured that Ministry would collaborate with the company on getting cleaner and efficient energy as well boosting their export volume to other countries assuring that the government was already working on harmonising its taxes.
While reacting to some of the challenges raised by the Management of the Company, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, Mr. Olu. Ola. Aikulola advised that the confounding issues should be articulated and forwarded to the Ministry accordingly , assuring that prompt and appropriate action would be taken to assuage the situation as much as practicable.
The Permanent Secretary who commended the company for complying with the COVID-19 safety protocol tasked the organisation to further protect the welfare of its workers.
The Director, Operations, Celplas Limited, Mr. Abhijit Sanyal revealed that with the Free Trade Zone approval , many companies have already shown interest in setting up factories within the zone.
He however added that accessing forex has been a challenge but expressed optimism in the steps taken by the Central Bank of Nigeria ( CBN) in addressing the challenge.
