As part of efforts to cushion the effect of the Covid-19 pandemic on businesses in Ogun State, the State Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment has commenced mobilization of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to enable them register and access the N75 billion MSMEs Survival Fund from the Federal Government.
Commissioner for Industry, Trade and Investment, Mrs. Kikelomo Longe made this known while speaking during a meeting with various MSMEs and Business Membership Organisations (MBOs) on the Survival Fund held at the Ministry’s Conference Room, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta stating the Prince Dapo Abiodun-led administration remains committed to ensuring eligible small businesses access the Survival Fund and all intervention funds available.
Mrs. Longe said small business owners in the State should access the five components of the Survival Fund which include: the payroll support, artisan/transport grants, General MSME Grants, Formalisation Support and Guaranteed Off-take Stimulus Scheme.
The Commissioner noted that application for the Payroll Support available for private schools, factory owners, law firms, hospitals and hotels, is currently on, stressing that the application for that component of the Survival Fund closes by the 15th of October, 2020.
She added that the Artisan/ Transport Grant which is a one-off payment of N30,000 to self-employed individuals such as mechanics, taxi drivers, hairdressers, Keke Napep riders, Okada riders, plumbers, electricians and others commences on Monday 19th October and ends on Saturday 31st October, 2020 while application for the other components would be announced later.
Mrs. Longe called on small businesses to promptly register for the Survival Fund via www.survivalfundapplication.com noting that an impressive number of registration would enhance the chances of the State in benefitting from other future interventions from the Federal Government.
Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, Mr. Olu. Ola. Aikulola assured that accessing the MSMEs Survival Fund is based on
transparency and fairness without the need for any form of connection calling on the various Business Membership Organisations (BMOs) and MSMEs to take advantage of the Fund.
The Chairman, National Association of Small and Medium Enterprises (NASME), Ogun State chapter, Dr. Akinwunmi Alonge and the Vice President, Ogun State Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (OGUNCCIMA), Chief Jare Oyesola lauded the effort of the Ministry assuring that their Organisations would also mobilize their members to register and benefit from the Fund.
