Few days after Ogun State was awarded by the Federal Government for outstanding performances in Rice and Cassava production of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) as well as the Value Chain Development Programme (VCDP) activities, the State Governor, Prince (Dr.) Dapo Abiodun has again bagged governor of the year, at the Nigeria Agriculture Awards 2020.
The award, according to the Nigeria Agriculture award, organisers of the event, was in recognition of the giant strides made in the Agricultural sector of Ogun State.
Speaking shortly after receiving the award which was held at the Sheraton Hotel and Towers, Abuja, Abiodun said, " I am honoured to receive the governor of the year 2020 award from the Nigeria Agriculture award. This recognition by the appreciated awarding body, more than encourages one to deliver more towards making Ogun State a foremost agro-Industrial hub for investment in Nigeria".
Also speaking, Ogun State Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr. Adeola Odedina, appreciated the organisers for the honour, pledging more Agricultural programmes will be expanded in the coming to further open up employment opportunities for the youths and guarantee profit for all categories of farmers.
This year's edition of the award is the seventh edition since inception in 2014, and is the climax of the Feed Nigeria Summit tagged: Agribusiness::Leading Nigeria's Recovery with National and International Agricultural stakeholders.
Dignitaries who graced the event included Head of European delegation to Nigeria and ECOWAS, Amb.Ketil Harrison, IFAD Director in Nigeria and Central Africa, Nadire Gbossa, Permanent Secretary, Ogun State Ministry of Agriculture, Dr. Dotun Sorunke, among others.
