Residents of Ogun State have been tasked to ensure proper maintenance and protection of public infrastructure, in order to complement government’s drive at improving the people’s standard of living.
Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Ade Akinsanya made the call, while inspecting the asphalt laying along the Elite – Oke-Lantoro road, in Abeokuta, urging them to desist from burning and dumping refuse indiscriminately on the newly asphalted road, to allow free flow of water and avert flooding.
"Although the road has a covered drain, but it is still expedient to let you know that when refuse is dumped in the waterways, it will block the flow of water, which can damage the road with time’’, he said.
Speaking, the contractor handling the project, Engr. March Seeman who assured that his company would ensure quality job was delivered within the record time, stated that artisans and many other youths who were engaged in the construction work have been absorbed, appreciating the host community for their cooperation.
Speaking later in a chat with OGIS correspondent, some residents, Mrs. Funke Adeogun and Mr. Segun Fadahunsi, lauded the State government for the project, saying it would improve business activities in the area.
