Ogun removes bottlenecks on land processing and allocations

Ogun State  government says it is currently carrying out a number of reforms to ease the process of land management and  transactions as well as reduce the timeliness in the processing of land documents in the state. 

The Special Adviser and Director General , Bureau  of Land and Survey, Barrister Aina Salami who stated this this Wednesday at a stakeholders' Engagement Meeting held at the Oba's Complex, Oke-Mosan said as part of the reform,  the period of time for the processing of the Certificate of Occupancy has been reduced  to just 28 days  with drastic reductions in the steps to be taken as against  the initial cumbersome processes

He also said that the Bureau is soon  to commence  property registration programme across the three Senatorial District of the State to enable commercial and private home owners  register and obtain necessary building permits at affordable rate within a fixed time frame.

The various reforms which according to him also include transparent activities  through constant and  effective stakeholders engagement, mass registration of property to contribute to the poverty alleviation  ideal of the present administration, granting of covid -19  incentives to investors ,automation of land processes among others are geared towards enabling ease of doing business as part of the goals of the present administration. 

While declaring the stakeholders meeting open, the Commissioner for Trade and Investments, Mrs Kikelomo Longe observed that if the current tempo of reform in the land administration and  management in the state  is sustained,  ogun state  will soon  occupy the desired status as the number one in property registration in the country.

Also, speaking, the Commissioner for Physical and Urban Planning, Town Planner Olatunji Odunlami solicited the support of stakeholders for the reform being carried out by the government , while urging them to key into the process by joining the train of  a new dawn in land administration  and management in the state.
