OGBC Santa Claus visits children with special needs

...as the importance of showing love to special kids returns to the centre-stage

Extending hands of love to children especially  those with Special Needs  should be a priority of all.

It is on this heels that the Ogun state Broadcasting Corporation, OGBC, in conjunction with well spirited individuals and organisations, including the Save Her Foundation, Rejoice House, Abeokuta, the Adele Oloko of Orile-Oko, High Chief Olakunle Olalekan put together  a Christmas funfair  to show love to pupils of  Daniel Akintonde Model School for  Children with Special Needs,Abeokuta. 

Speaking on the importance of charity especially to children during this period,  the Founder of the Save Her Foundation, Reverend Fola Achudume pointed out that every child, irrespective of their status, must be given a pride of place and they should not be left unattended to. 

Reverend Achudume described children as the heritage of the Lord, hence,they should be loved, respected adding that their rights should be protected. 

Advocating adequate care for children with special needs, the Save Her Foundation Founder  who  was represented by Engineer Mrs Adeoye  noted that if children were given the right attention, they would be productive and become responsible adults.

Commending OGBC  for making the Christmas Funfair for the children an annual event,  the Headteacher of Daniel Akintonde Model School for Children with Special Needs, Abeokuta ,Mrs Olubukola Idowu observed that such gesture will not go unnoticed. 

And like Oliver Twist, she solicited more show of love for the children with special needs for them to know that they are important in the society.

In a remark,  the Chairperson of OGBC Father Xmas Funfair, Doyin Lasisi-Oloruntola explained that the annual show is a  social service on the part of the Nation's Model Station, a  legacy inherited from the founding fathers.

    She also described the Christmas season as a  period to unwind with families, friends and colleagues adding that children should be made to feel the fun associated with the season. 

    Appreciating  individuals and organisations in partnership with OGBC Father Christmas Funfair to ensure the sustainability of the annual tradition of showing love to kids,

Lasisi-Oloruntola saw the need for the society to protect the rights of children adding  that children with Special Needs should be handled  with  the required care and respect as every  child is a gift from God to humanity.
