ABDULAZEEZ YINKA ONIYANGI: A RISING KWARA POLITICAL FRONTLINER

There is no shadow of a doubt that the not too young to run law, which was implemented under the Jonathan and Buhari administrations, is a surefire catalyst for youth involvement in politics, both as active participants and promoters.

There has been vociferous advocacy for the country’s political firmament to be diluted with young people who are politically active, dynamic, and foresighted and who can contribute greatly to the nation’s democratic process, as is the case in many other progressive democracies. However, despite the fact that the youths’ response to this prodding has not been as positive as desired for a variety of reasons, the not too young to run policy has forced a significant number of them out of their shells to exercise their right to vote by running for political office and even taking a gladiator seat.

Mallam AbdulAzzez Yinka Oniyangi, who was born in the Nigerian state of Kwara, he is one of these forward-thinking new faces in the turbulent world of politics. The Oniyangi family, which includes Dr. Abdulkadir Sulaiman Oniyangi, one of the first generation of medical doctors in Northern Nigeria, and the father of AbdulAzeez, is without a doubt not a new family to Kwarans. The mother,Hajia Memunat Oniyangi, was also a gifted educator and AbdulAzeez is the nephew of General Bababtunde Idiagbon, the late Buhari military regime’s chief of staff.

The fact that Yinka is a product of the renowned Government Secondary School Ilorin and has first- and second-degrees from Ahmadu Bello University Zaria shows that being born into a noble family was insufficient to quell his desire to personally carve a niche for himself. Later on, he pursued a career in insurance and risk management while attending the renowned Richelieu Dennis School of Risk Management and the West African Insurance Institute (WAII), both in Banjul, The Gambia.
As a fervent supporter of entrepreneurship and leadership, Yinka developed a passion for adding value to the medical industry by providing the necessary support services. As a result, he founded Swift Air Ambulance Services Ltd., a company that specializes in medical tourism and Medical Evacuation with  ICU-equipped private jets for medical evacuation. Swift Air Ambulance Services Ltd. opened for business in 2015, but Yinka had established it in 2014. The organization’s efficiency and savviness undoubtedly drew in great partners, including the Valiant Clinic in City Walk Dubai, managed by Houston Methodist of Texas, which is owned by His Royal Highness Sheikh Muhammed Rashid Ibn Maktoun, the Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and ruler of Dubai. The outfit also has existing synergies with top model Saudi German Hospital, Rak Hospital at Ras Al-Khaimah and Adam Vital Hospital Dubai, a German Center of Excellence for Orthopedic and Neuro Spine. The company is reputed as the only Nigeria partner of the famous Pilot training school Mideast Aviation Academy, Amman,Jordan.
Abdul Azeez Yinka, an ardent supporter of tradition and grassroots activism, established the Emirates Equestrians club in Ilorin. This club provides the best horseback riding and serves as a great starting point for horse enthusiasts by combining horse mastery and riding lessons that focus on fun and learning without requiring riders to own their own horses.
AbdulaAzeez’s passion for front-line political partisanship was sparked by his desire to change the narrative of Kwara politics for a positive mooring and the enormous army of supporters awareness, mostly young and underprivileged people. In 2019, AbdulaAzeez announced his candidacy for governor on the platform of the New Progressive Movement political party. Like a nascent political Trojan, Yinka vigorously campaigned during the election season in every local government of Kwara State, building strong bonds of ties among the state’s various ethnic and demographic groups. Even though AbdulAzeez was unsuccessful in his bid to become the governor of Kwara, he still came out ahead by giving his political career new perspectives on political understanding, public support, and increasing followership.

However, it is not strange that AbdulAzeez voluntarily offered to contribute his experience, political network, and expertise to the Jagaban’s success in order to realize his bid after Asiwaju Bola Tinubu declared his interest in running for the presidency of the nation under the banner of the All Progressives Congress (APC). One result of these efforts was the overwhelming backing Asiwaju received from Kwara and some North Central delegates during the party primary elections. His current role as the North Central Coordinator of the Tinubu Support Organization (TSO) gave him the impetus to organize and serve as the patron of the National Alliance for Bola Tinubu, Kwara State Chapter, as well as the Tinubu Mandate Group.

It is clear that the long-needed fresh breadth needed in Kwara’s political space is being created on the horizon for this budding political icon while he works tirelessly for the rise of his principal, Asiwaju Tinubu, whom he loves with a great passion and sees as mentor. Inquisitive observers could see that AbdulAzeez combines the qualities of youth, experience, intellectual prowess, and unimpeachable character that would most likely make AbdulAzeez Oniyangi one of the top political gladiators and leaders in the State’s politics in the near future, especially when his principal (Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu) assumes the mantle of power as president of Nigeria.
