Make our refineries functional, Acomoran National President, Apelogun begs FG*

Irked by the persistent scarcity of Premium Motor Spirit popularly called petrol in the country, the National President of Acomoran, Ambassador Adebayo Apelogun has called on the federal government to as a matter of urgency begin the total overhaul of the nation's refineries so as to end the protracted scarcity of the product in the country.

Speaking in Abeokuta on Saturday, Ambassador Apelogun decried the suffering motorists and commuters  are passing through, adding that the situation needed to be addressed before the yuletide  season.

He reminded the federal government of the promises  made to Nigerians few years ago that all the refineries would be functional immediately they assume office in 2015.

Ambassador Apelogun explained that since our economy is a monolithic one, any harm done to the oil and gas sector would negatively affect other sectors in the country...

.." Imagine a farmer not able to transport his farm produce to the market on time due to high cost of transport, the people would be forced to spend higher than expected and some produce will end up perishing on the farm", He enthused

The Acomoron, National President also expressed his disappointment over the scarcity, arguing that most Nigerians go through hardship during festive period at all times.

He thereafter  begged President Mohammadu Buhari to do everything humanly possible to stem the rising tide of the scarcity by investing in building new refineries and overhauling the existing ones so as to bring sanity to the economy.

According to him, those in the transportation sector have been thrown into more hardship than expected , forcing the transporters to increase the fares charged almost on daily basis.

Ambassador Apelogun, who was in Abeokuta attending the 60th birthday of the State chairman of Acomoran, Chief Kayode Amos Sowunmi seized the  opportunity to plead with his members to cooperate with the government in its policies and programmes
