The Nigerian Meteorological Agency ( NIMET) and different agencies involved with the issuance of forecast and alert for impending rains every other year had predicted that there would be a lot of concerns on the issue of flooding, mentioning the areas likely to be badly affected, while at the same time, cautioning that those who are residents in the low plane or flood prone areas should vacate to avoid story that touches the heart.
In like manner, the Management of the Ogun Osun River Basin Development Authourity had equally warned people who are likely to be vulnerable to move to a safer place.
Thus, it was not a surprise in this year, from around May to Septemeber and even October when the areas already predicted began to experience great consequences of the heavy downpour being experienced across the length and breadth of the state and the country in general.
In one of the heavy rains that has characterised this period, some residents under Ewekoro Local Government had a nasty bite of the ugly incidence due to the rains that fell on May 1st this year that left several residents of Egbado/ Ajegunle and Owowo under Ewekoro Local Government homeless because of the havoc wreaked within their neighbourhood.
As a responsible Lawmaker, who is ever ready to attend to the plights of his people, Honourable Ibrahim Ayokunle isiaka quickly intervened by providing relieve materials to cushion the effects.
The havoc wreaked by the rains were so much that some residents lost fortunes! Calamities ranging from completely blown off roofs and collapsed walls thereby, rendering many people homeless.
On 11th of October, succour came from the man who at no time ever abandoned his people, Honourable Isiaka came to the rescue of the affected people through distribution of relieve materials from the National Emergency Management Agency, (NEMA), which were duly facilitated and sponsored by him.
Bulk of the materials were building materials such as; bags of cement, roofing sheets, nails, planks among others, and cash sum to alleviate the sufferings.
One of the residents who was badly hit spoke on the good gesture, even as he openly appreciated Honourable Ibrahim Isiaka for the milk of human kindness flowing in him .
Mr Oluwagbemiga Ajala from Egado/ Ajegunle under Ewekoro Local Government whose house was completely destroyed was full of praises to Honourable Isiaka for coming to the aid of people like him.
His words " The rains of May 1st wreaked a lot of havoc at Ajegunle and we were called to come for relieve materials. I hereby, thank the Member of the House of Representatives, Honourable Ibrahim Isiaka for the good gestures and I also wish to thank our Kabiyesi, Oba Oniyitan for his intervention. Consequently, I also wish to appreciate the Chairman of the local government and all those that are involved in this gesture. For somebody like me, who lost a whole house, I had thought that was the end, but with this relieve materials, hope became a reality and I can't thank them enough.
However, let it be placed on record that no one collected a dime from us to get this relief materials and we did not lobby or pay anyone to have our names included. I was not even aware, it was around 2 am that I got a call from our Kabiesi Oniyitan to report here and be a partaker of this good gesture. We are eternally grateful and I want to pray for Honourable Ibrahim Ayokunle Isiaka for being a man with a lot of concerns for the vulnerable, especially members of his constituency. We are very grateful. God will not leave nor forsake him".
