Ashimolowo laments high poverty rate as Achudume celebrates 60th birthday

The Senior Pastor of Kingsway International  Christian  Centre in London, Pastor Mathew Ashimolowo has said that  there is great poverty in the land, urging  the nation's leaders to address the chronic poverty and hunger.

He  warns that"there was  fire on  the mountain," saying urgent attention is needed to remedy the situation.

Pastor Ashimolowo  spoke on Monday in Abeokuta on the topic " The Mark of  a Good Man,"  in his homily at the 60th birthday celebration  of the Founder and Lead Pastor of Victory Life Bible Church International, Apostle  Lawrence  Achudume.

The renowned  international  preacher  further stated that the gaps between the haves and  the have-nots  is too wide,  saying  this portents grave  danger as it is a  time bomb only waiting  to explode.

According to Pastor Ashimolowo government needs to take urgent action  to address  the growing poverty among the generality of the people, lamenting  that the purchasing power of the people has  been greatly eroded by hyper inflation occasioned by dwindling fortunes of the naira.

Singing the lyric from the popular song by Asha, Pastor Ashimolowo  observed that there  was fire on the mountain and unfortunately nobody seems to be on the run, warning that something urgent must be done as majority of  the people now go to bed hungry.

The Man of God while taking a look at  what is going on in the body of  Christ lamented the fact that people have deviated from the gospel of christ,  saying when he  looks at what is going on, he wonders whether people are practicing fake or genuine gospel.

Pastor  Ashimolowo while describing  the celebrant as a learner and teacher said Apostle Achudume  carries the mark of a good man,  because he carries God's presence with him, have intimacy with God and have the grace of  God radiating around him.

Pastor Ashimolowo continued by saying that  another  mark of a good man is that unusual prosperity do follow them, they are always a city leader and king maker and  someone who commands respect and a Prince above Princes,  while  they are always  full.of wisdom and truth and they are reputable and respected, saying all these are traits found in Apostle Achudume.

The Governor  of Akwa-Ibom State Umo Bassey Uno  who was represented by his Deputy, Senator Akon Eyakenyi described Apostle Achudume  as a unifying  factor who  has helped to unite the politicians as well as Chriatians in Akwa- Ibom State.

According to Governor Uno Apostle Achudume  is a good man who goes for what is right and a man that is always jovial, but tells the truth  at all times, even to the people in power.

Also  speaking, wife of the Ogun State Governor, Mrs Bamidele Abiodun said for over three decades, Apostle  Achudume  has been a light to the world who has dedicated his life to the work of the ministry, saying any encounter with  him is an encounter for good, while praying that God grant him the grace to finish the good work he has started.

Earlier, the Presiding Pastor, Citadel Global Community  Church, Pastor Tunde Bakare while eulogising the celebrant said he is  a respected and anointed man of God who must be supported.

He said : " But for you, i won't be here  physically. You did all so well and we  must celebrate  you. Thank you for keeping the flag flying and flying the banner of Christ. Welcome to the sixth floor and congratulations to you on your diamond age".

The celebrant in a remark described himself as a man helped by God and someone who enjoys a special grace that keeps radiating around him.

" I am a man helped by God. I know where I'm coming from. I know where I would have been and I know where God has taken me", he said.

What would I say, but that God has helped me, that is the summary of my life."

Recounting his journey through life and how the traditional priest  in his village had predicted his monumental rise in the Christian Ministry, Achudume said " One thing I can remember  is that the ifa oracle had told my great grand mother that the man( Lawrence Achudume) will not serve the  God that they serve, but will serve the white man's God ( Christianity) and it began to work out. There are challenges on the way until we get to where we are.

While eulogising his wife for being a strong  pillar of support, he said: " if my wife and  church members had given me problem, I would have died by age 40. God has blessed  me with wonderful people and I owe them a debt of love after the birthday celebration."
