FOOD SECURITY: OGUN NIPR RECEIVES LAND ALLOCATION FOR FARM PROJECT

As a fallout from year 2024 annual Colloquium, Ogun State Chapter of Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has partnered Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), where the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, was the Lead Speaker on the theme, "Galvanising Public and Private Stakeholders Toward Addressing Food Crisis in Nigeria: Public Relations as Key Driver".

Driven by challenges thrown by the Lead Speaker and other panelists, the Chairman, Mrs Oluwaseun Boye, has written a letter, requesting for allocation of farmland for the Chapter to cultivate as a way of contributing its quota to address food scarcity in Nigeria. 

In response, the Vice-Chancellor, has graciously approved allocation of 10 hectares of farmland for the execution of farm project by the Chapter, out of which five hectares is being allocated in the first phase of the farm project.


While conducting the Chairman alongside other Exco members around the farmland for site inspection, the Director of University Farms, Dr. Emmanuel Bankole said, the Institution was ready to partner any business minded corporate organization interested in farming as the institution has wide expanse of arable land for crop and livestock.

He gave the assurance of adequate security, advisory services, availability of mechanization, close monitoring and other inputs that would culminate into best agricultural practices towards maximum profit.


Responding, the Chairman, Mrs Oluwaseun Boye conveyed Ogun NIPR's deep appreciation to the Vice-Chancellor for his magnanimity in approving the land allocation and Director of University Farms for his commitments to a successful agric-business partnership, pledging NIPR unflinching zeal that would make the project come to fruition.

Other Exco members present were the Vice-Chairman, Mr. Waheed Ogunjobi, the Secretary, Mr. Kunle Olayeni, the Assistant Secretary who is also the Chairman, Farm Project Committee, Mr. Tunwase Dokunmu as well as the Acting Director of Public Relations, FUNAAB, Mr. Sunkanmi Olajide.
