Rasaq Ajibodu who trained Kollington Ayinla in the army, recalled his former trainee's exceptional discipline, respect, and obedience. "He was always respectful, obeyed my every instruction, and never misbehaved," Ajibodu said, visibly moved by the reunion. Kollington's religious discipline and kindness towards others, including Ajibodu's mother, who lived with them in the barracks, also left a lasting impression on the instructor.
The reunion was facilitated by Kasnati Sugar , the presenter of Alangere a syntillating show being streamed on the internet; mutual acquaintance, after Ajibodu sent a message expressing his desire to see kollington Ayinla before he passed on. Despite being 91 at the time, Ajibodu's prayers were answered when Kollington visited him at his home. "Seeing him again today, I feel like I've won a million naira lottery," Ajibodu exclaimed, overwhelmed with joy.
Ajibodu's wife, Iya Lati, who used to sell cutlery to soldiers in the barracks, also shared fond memories of Kollington and the other soldiers. "They all loved Ajibodu, and when they marched, they would sing various chants until evening," she recalled. "I'm truly grateful that even though time passed and distance grew between us, I still had the opportunity to reconnect with him," Ajibodu added.
The reunion brought back memories for Ajibodu's younger brother, who was initially skeptical about his brother's claim of training Kollington. However, witnessing the reunion firsthand dispelled any doubts. "Today, seeing Kollington in person changes everything," he said, expressing gratitude to Kasnati for making the reunion possible.
