Venerable Paul Ogunlade, the mam of God in charge of African Church Goodnews Chapel, Masoretinu Bus Stop has recently been elevated to the position of Venerable in the African Church. Q: What does being elevated to the position of Venerable mean to you, and how do you plan to utilize this new role to serve the African Church?
A: I am very glad and grateful to the Almighty who made it possible for me to be elevated to the position of Venerable in the African Church. I plan to utilize it for the expansion of the Gospel in the church of God.
Q: Can you describe the significance of the title "Venerable" in the context of the African Church, and what responsibilities come with it?
A: In the context of the African Church, a Venerable is an archdeacon in an archdeaconry who oversees some parishes and annexes.
Q: How do you envision your new role contributing to the growth and development of the church?
A: I envision my new role contributing to the expansion of the church through revival and constant home visits by organizing parlor fellowships.
Q: What specific duties and responsibilities do you anticipate taking on as a Venerable, and how will you prioritize your tasks?
A: I anticipate being more articulate in the work and having focus. I will supervise the parishes and annexes.
Q: How will your new role impact your relationship with the congregation, clergy, and other church leaders?
A: It will impact the church spiritually in the word of God and evangelism.
Q: Are there any particular challenges or opportunities you foresee in your new position, and how do you plan to address them?
A: The challenge is that the archdeacon will be more exposed to some work than when he is a Reverend Canon, so I need the cooperation of the congregation.
Q: When did you join the African Church, and what motivated you to pursue a career in ministry?
A7: I joined the African Church in 2013 as a student in The African Church College of Theology. God instructed me to do so.
Q: Can you share your educational background and any relevant training or certifications you've received?*
A8: By the grace of God, my educational background has helped me to attain this level in ministry. My educational history started from primary school. I attended AC/RCM Primary School between 1989-1994. My Secondary Education was at Anglican Secondary Grammar School between 1995-2000. My University Education was at the University of Ibadan, 2002-2007. I also have a Master's Degree in Education from the National Open University of Nigeria.
Q: How has your education and experience prepared you for your current role and future aspirations?
A: My education and experience have really helped me. Even when I was in the theological school, among others, what supposed to cost me three years cost me one year.
Q: What have been some of your notable achievements in your present post as Reverend Canon, and how have they impacted the church?
A10: As a Reverend Canon, I was able to give glory to God in the number of congregations numerically. We were able to build a pastorium of 2-bedroom flat within a short period.
Q: What are your future projections for the African Church, and how do you see yourself contributing to its growth and development?
A: The African Church, by the grace of God, is trying to have our churches all over African nations.
Q: Are there any specific goals or initiatives you'd like to pursue in your new role as Venerable?
A: I would like to make the parish I am overseeing a cathedral if God tarries.
Q: Can you explain the difference between the titles "Archdeacon" and "Venerable" in the context of the African Church?
A13: As a Venerable of the church, you are to attend all national meetings, e.g., National Conference and General Committee of the church anywhere the meeting is to be held. You will be exposed to national programs, e.g., National Convention and Solution Night.
Q: What does it take to become a Bishop in the African Church?
A: To become a bishop is in the hand of God just be diligent and stay focused on the work. But the next position after Venerable is Bishop .
Q: Your advice to others aspiring for such feat ?
A: My advance to others who aspire the office is that they should know the promotion come from God. Let them be diligent and stay focused on the ministry.
