Saturday, September 20, 2025, marks a significant milestone in the career of a dedicated public servant who has given 35 years of his life to serving the Federal Government of Nigeria. This remarkable individual began his journey at the Federal College of Agriculture, Akure, on September 20, 1990, immediately after completing his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in the same institution.
What makes this story even more remarkable is that this individual has spent his entire career at the same institution, rising through the ranks to become the Provost in 2015. As the first alumnus to hold this position since the college's establishment in 1967, he brought a unique perspective and wealth of experience to the role.
During his tenure as Provost, he achieved numerous milestones that transformed the institution. Some of his notable achievements include transforming the Arable Crops (Edu) building into a world-class training centre, establishing an International Training Centre, Guest House, Agro shop, Clinic, and Roads, and boosting student enrollment. He also secured multiple international collaborations that enhanced the institution's reputation and impact.
His achievements did not go unnoticed, as the then Honourable Minister of Agriculture and Minister of State for Agriculture issued letters of commendation, recognizing his outstanding contributions to the institution and the agricultural sector. With over 300,000 individuals trained in Agricultural Technology and Enterprises, his impact on national and global agriculture and food systems is undeniable.
Reflecting on his 35 years of service, he expressed gratitude to God for the strength, energy, and good health that have enabled him to serve with dedication and passion. He looks forward to the remaining years of his service, during which he plans to expand his hobbies and continue integrating fun and joy into his work.
As he marks this remarkable milestone, his colleagues, friends, and mentees celebrate his dedication, passion, and commitment to public service. His story serves as an inspiration to many, demonstrating the impact one person can have on an institution and an entire sector.
It should however be noted that this milestone is not a retirement celebrations but a recognition of his period of Commencement of Service.
