The Ogun State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Commandant Remilekun Omolade Ekundayo, MLCJ, Mspsp, on Saturday, 24th January, 2026, attended the foundation laying ceremony of the proposed NSCDC Divisional Office at Adehun–Adeoti Community, Abeokuta.
The event according to a release by the Command Public Relations Officer, CSS Sulaimon Folorunso was made possible through the donation of land by the Olaifa-Adeoti family, a domain family in the area.
Speaking on behalf of the family, Mrs. Patience Ibironke Olaifa-Adeoti said the donation was part of their contribution to the development of the community and in support of the presence and activities of the NSCDC in the area.
In view of this, the Commandant expressed her sincere appreciation to the Adeoti family and the Ilupeju Community, under the leadership of Dr. Fakunle Abiodun, for their kind gesture.
She described the project as a significant step towards improving security services in the community and strengthening peace and development.
Commandant Ekundayo conveyed the goodwill and warm greetings of the Commandant-General of the NSCDC, Professor Ahmed Abubakar Audi, mni, OFR, and restated his commitment to community-based security, strategic partnerships, and grassroots engagement as key to achieving lasting peace and security across the country.
She commended the leadership of the Adehun–Adeoti Community Development Council and the traditional rulers led by Oba Saheed Agbaje, the Olu of Oke-Odo Ilupeju Community, as well as elders, youths, and other stakeholders for supporting the project.
Commandant Ekundayo stated that the establishment of the Divisional Office would improve the operational strength of the Corps in the area, enhance quick response to security issues, improve intelligence gathering, and ensure better protection of lives, property, and critical national assets.
She emphasized the importance of cooperation between the NSCDC and host communities, noting that security is a shared responsibility that requires trust and mutual understanding.
The Commandant assured the community that the Corps would continue to discharge its duties with professionalism, discipline, and dedication.
She also encouraged residents to continue to support the Corps by providing timely and useful information, obeying the rule of law, and protecting public facilities, stressing that their cooperation is vital to effective security.
The ceremony ended with the Commandant, alongside community members, laying the foundation block for the construction of the Divisional Office.
She expressed hope that the facility, when completed, would serve as a centre for improved service delivery, unity, and security for the benefit of the community and future generations.
