OGUN NSCDC CLARIFIES INCIDENT INVOLVING ITS PERSONNEL AND POLICE OPERATIVES AT GOVERNMENT TECHNICAL COLLEGE, IDI-ABA.

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ogun State Command, wishes to inform members of the public about the incident that occurred on Friday, 6th March 2026, at the Government Science and Technical College, Idi-Aba, Abeokuta, involving personnel of the Corps and operatives of the Nigeria Police Force attached to the Kemta Division.

The Command’s attention has been drawn to various reports and discussions circulating on social media regarding the development, and it wishes to make the following clarifications:

The NSCDC personnel were lawfully deployed by the Ogun State Command. This deployment is in line with the statutory responsibilities of the Corps as provided in Section 3(e,f) of the NSCDC Act 2003 (as amended 2007), which mandates the Corps to protect critical national assets and infrastructure, among other duties.

The Command has since engaged with the appropriate leadership of the Nigeria Police Force in Ogun State. Both Commands have taken the necessary steps to address the situation and ensure that the matter is handled in the spirit of professionalism, mutual respect, and inter-agency cooperation.

The matter is currently under administrative and operational review to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident. Further updates will be communicated to the public as appropriate.

The NSCDC Ogun State Command wishes to reassure the public that the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, the Nigeria Police Force, and other security agencies maintain a strong collaborative relationship in safeguarding lives, property, and critical national assets across Ogun State.

The Command appreciates the concern expressed by members of the public and reiterates its commitment to professional service delivery, effective inter-agency collaboration, and the protection of public institutions and government infrastructure throughout the State.
