The Yoruba Community in Switzerland (YCS) has officially appointed His Majesty, Professor Adeyemi Obalanlege, Ph.D. (Lanlege Ekun II, Arole Iganmode, Olofin Apesin Olode), the Olota of the Ancient and Paramount Ottaland, Awori Kingdom, as its Royal Patron.
According to the President of the Yoruba Community in Switzerland, Ayotunde Salami, the decision was made in recognition of Kabiyesi's exemplary leadership, unwavering commitment to cultural preservation, and consistent support for Yoruba associations across the world.
The appointment is in recognition of His Majesty's steadfast dedication to the promotion of Yoruba culture, traditions, and values, as well as the welfare of the Yoruba people both in Nigeria and throughout the diaspora.
The community expressed confidence that His Majesty's royal patronage would provide inspiration, strategic direction, and a respected voice in advancing its cultural programmes and initiatives, while further strengthening the bonds among Yoruba people in the diaspora.
In response, His Majesty expressed profound appreciation to the leadership and members of the Yoruba Community in Switzerland for the honour bestowed upon him. Kabiyesi Olota accepted the appointment with a renewed commitment to preserving, promoting, and advancing the rich cultural heritage, traditions, and identity of the Yoruba people.
Kabiyesi further reaffirmed his dedication to supporting initiatives that foster unity among Yoruba people worldwide and ensure that the values and heritage of the Yoruba race continue to flourish for generations to come.
