PlotWeaver, Storipod partner to take Nigerian stories across local-language markets

PlotWeaver, Storipod partner to take Nigerian stories across local-language markets

The partnership will combine Storipod’s 200,000+ user distribution platform with PlotWeaver’s STORM OS, starting with Nigerian English, Pidgin, Yorùbá, Igbo and Hausa.

LAGOS, Nigeria and LONDON, United Kingdom, 21 September 2026 — African voice AI company PlotWeaver has partnered with storytelling and distribution platform Storipod to help Nigerian books, films and audio content reach audiences across multiple local-language markets.

The partnership will integrate PlotWeaver’s STORM OS voice and language infrastructure into Storipod’s platform, which has more than 200,000 users and over 12 million story reads.

The first phase will support Nigerian English, Nigerian Pidgin, Yorùbá, Igbo and Hausa. The idea is straightforward: instead of producing a book, audiobook or film for one language market and rebuilding the localisation process for every additional audience, rights holders will be able to use the same underlying infrastructure to produce authorised multilingual versions.

An English-language audiobook, for example, could be made available in Yorùbá or Hausa. A film could be localised for Igbo-speaking audiences. Publishers could extend existing catalogues into additional Nigerian language markets without recreating the entire production workflow.

“Africa does not have a shortage of great stories. We have an infrastructure problem that prevents many of those stories from travelling,” said Wole Fagbohun, Founder and CEO of PlotWeaver.

“Storipod has built the distribution layer. We are building the language layer. Together, we want to make it possible for one piece of African IP to move across languages and markets without rebuilding the production process every time.”

Building for the way Nigerians actually speak

PlotWeaver is developing STORM OS as speech and language infrastructure for African markets.

The platform combines speech recognition, translation, speech generation, voice preservation and multilingual interaction through a common infrastructure layer.

One area the company is particularly focused on is code-switching.

Nigerian speakers regularly move between English, Pidgin and local languages within the same conversation, a pattern that many speech systems struggle to handle naturally.

PlotWeaver says STORM OS is being designed around that multilingual reality.

For Storipod, the integration creates an opportunity to increase the addressable audience and commercial life of the content already moving through its ecosystem.

“Stories deserve a bigger world,” said James Nelson, Founder of Storipod.

“Language should not determine how far a great African story can travel. This partnership gives us another way to help rights holders reach audiences beyond the language in which their work was originally created.”

Nigeria first, Africa next

Nigeria will serve as the first market for the partnership.

PlotWeaver is also training STORM OS V3 across 68 African languages in 44 countries, representing languages spoken by more than 1.1 billion people.

As those capabilities become production-ready, the companies expect the same infrastructure to support content distribution across additional African markets.

The partnership will also explore localisation for film and media, multilingual advertising and branded audio experiences.

For PlotWeaver, the deal is part of a broader strategy to position STORM OS as the underlying language infrastructure for companies building products and distributing content across Africa.

For Storipod, it is a way to turn one piece of intellectual property into an asset capable of reaching multiple language markets.

One story. More languages. More markets.

2. THE GUARDIAN NIGERIA VERSION

PlotWeaver, Storipod move to expand Nigerian content across local-language markets

LAGOS, Nigeria and LONDON, United Kingdom, 21 September 2026 — PlotWeaver Limited and Storipod Ltd have entered into a partnership aimed at helping Nigerian books, films, audio and other intellectual property reach wider audiences through multilingual distribution.

The collaboration will combine Storipod’s storytelling and distribution platform with PlotWeaver’s STORM OS voice and language technology.

The initiative will begin with Nigerian English, Nigerian Pidgin, Yorùbá, Igbo and Hausa, enabling authorised content to be adapted for audiences across different Nigerian language communities.

Storipod currently serves more than 200,000 users and has recorded over 12 million story reads, with audiences in more than 170 countries.

Under the partnership, publishers, authors, filmmakers and other rights holders within the Storipod ecosystem will be able to explore multilingual narration, translation, dubbing and audio production using PlotWeaver’s technology.

The companies said the initiative is intended to reduce the cost and complexity traditionally associated with producing separate language versions of the same intellectual property.

An English-language book, for example, could be adapted for Yorùbá, Hausa or Igbo audiences, while existing films and audio catalogues could be localised for additional Nigerian markets.

Founder and Chief Executive Officer of PlotWeaver, Wole Fagbohun, said language remained an important barrier to the movement of African intellectual property.

“Africa does not have a shortage of great stories. What we have lacked is the infrastructure that allows those stories to move easily across language boundaries,” he said.

“A successful Nigerian book or film should not be restricted to the language in which it was first produced. Storipod brings the content and distribution ecosystem, while PlotWeaver provides the language infrastructure required to help that content travel further.”

Founder of Storipod, James Nelson, said the partnership would support the company’s objective of helping African stories reach larger audiences.

“Stories deserve a bigger world. Language remains one of the barriers between African intellectual property and the audiences it could potentially reach,” Nelson said.

“Working with PlotWeaver gives us an opportunity to expand how stories on our platform can move across languages and markets.”

PlotWeaver’s STORM OS combines speech recognition, translation, speech generation, voice preservation and multilingual interaction.

The company is also developing technology designed to handle code-switching, where speakers move naturally between English, Pidgin and local languages within the same conversation.

While the initial deployment will focus on Nigeria, PlotWeaver is training the next generation of STORM OS across 68 African languages in 44 countries, covering languages spoken by more than 1.1 billion people.

The companies said additional African languages would be introduced as they become production-ready.

Beyond books and audio, the partnership is expected to explore applications in film localisation, multilingual advertising and other forms of digital media.

According to the companies, the longer-term objective is to make multilingual distribution a normal part of the African content production process, allowing a single intellectual property asset to reach several language markets without requiring a completely separate production workflow for each one.
