Incontinuation of supporting Ogun State government with relief materials to cushion the effects of the lockdown order, the Commissioner for Finance and Chief Economic Adviser to the Governor, Mr. Dapo Okubadejo has handed over 150 bags of 50kg Rice, 20 cartons of 240 bottles of Hand sanitizers, 20 bags of 100kg Beans, 60 Big bags of Garri and three cows to Ijebu-Ode, Odogbolu and Ijebu North East Local Government Areas of the State for onward distribution to indigents in the areas.

Handing over the relief materials at the secretariat of Ijebu Ode Local Government, the Commissioner said the relief materials were parts of his contribution to the State Government’s efforts in containing the spread of Covid 19 in the State.

“It is our collective responsibility to help and support the government in its fight against coronavirus by keeping distance in social gathering, washing our hands frequently, avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth and also practicing respiratory hygiene. More importantly, this is the right time for all well-meaning Nigerians to support the poor and vulnerable people in the society”, he noted.

He said Dapo Abiodun led administration was committed to the overall well-being of the people by providing relief materials across the 20 local government areas of the State, fumigation of public places and provision of hand sanitizers.

In his response, Chairman of Ijebu Ode Local Government, Engr. Olugbenga Olugbile, appreciated the donor for the kind gesture, saying the relief materials would be judiciously deployed to the less privileged, aged, poor and other vulnerable in the area.

Also speaking, the Chairman of Ijebu North East Local Government, Mr. Segun Odunola, urged the people to be orderly, calm, and patience with the officials of the State and Local Governments, saying the relief package would go a long way to support the needy and aged.

While commending the State government and Mr. Dapo Okubadejo for the prompt response, Mrs. Rukayat Ogunsanwo called on other well-meaning indigenes of the Local Governments to emulate the humanitarian gesture of the donors, noting that with kind- hearted spirit and love, covid-19 would be a thing of the past.
