The French Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Jerome Pasquier has extoled Ogun State government's Public Private Partnership initiative geared towards industrialisation, job creation and economic development.
Mr. Pasquier gave the applause during his inspection tour to Fan Milk Dairy Farm, located at Odeda Farm Institute, Eweje, owned by the State government and aquaculture hub of Obasanjo Farm, Owiwi.
He expressed delight with the progress made so far on the project, saying it is capable of producing more milk in Nigeria and reducing importation of goods, train farmers and create more jobs, especially in agriculture.
The envoy commended the State government for partnering Fan Milk, as well as the Central Bank of Nigeria and Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development for their support to make the project a reality.
"This is a very interesting project which has large economic value. It is also aimed at producing more milk and creating more jobs. This project addresses major economic challenges in Nigeria. I am happy about the support of State government, Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Central Bank of Nigeria", he stated.
Also speaking, Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr. Adeola Odedina said various industrialisation strides of the State Government had been attracting global attention, revealing that the visit was to acquaint French Embassy with the recent agricultural opportunities in the State.
Dr. Odedina, said the Obasanjo aquaculture hub was commissioned by Governor Dapo Abiodun last year, while a Memorandum of Understanding between the State and Fan Milk Plc was signed early in the year.
"This is a state-of-the-art dairy firm, a Public Private Partnership initiative in Ogun State. We are investment ready and this will have impact on job creation, food security and industrialisation. It's also telling the whole world that we are walking our talk in partnership with private sector and international development organisations”, he said.
Also speaking, the Project Manager, Fan Milk Plc, Mr. Onyena Livinus said the Dairy Farm project would benefit his organisation and the people, as it would develop the potential of more youths and address economic needs of the country.
