Students sensitised on the prerequisite of becoming a Medical Personnel as ECHSOSA 88/90 set organised a one day School Health Programme

Students of Egba Comprehensive High School, Asero Abeokuta have been sensitised on what it takes to be a major player in the promising medical profession in the country  as the 1988/1990 set of Egba Comprehensive  High School Old Students Association  organised a one day school health awareness and sensitisation programme at the school premises.

The health awareness programme started with the Doctors addressing the school assemblies in the morning on the importance of the Medical and Health professionals to the society and why the present crops of students have important roles to play in forming the new sets of Doctors that are needed in the nearest  future in the country. 

One  of the members of the set , Dr. Goke Dawodu  while addressing the students at the schoo assembly intimated  the students about  the dearth of medical personnel in the country, as thousand of medical personnel continue to troop abroad through what is popularly  known as the " Japa Syndrome," due to poor working conditions back home.

According to him, this Exodus has greatly affected the health sector, leading to High rate of maternal and infant mortality in the county.

Dr. Dawodu  Said they  are looking up to the younger ones still in school to gravitate  towards filling some of the vacancies that are daily being created for medical professionals.

An open clinic was later  made available after which the medical personnelv offered vital statistics checkups  and consultations to the school teaching and non teaching staff.

 The National President of the school  Old Students' Association in person of Mr Olufemi Adegboyega Popoola was present, and he  addressed a cross section of the science students in the school hall. 

There were also a motivational talks from the doctors , nursing, and other professionals around. 

To round off the event ; the association made a donation of some first aid consumables available to the school, which was well received by the school authority and the students.
