Sixth Sense Initiative Announces 2025 Summer Children Reading Camp in Abeokuta

Date: July 19, 2025

Sixth Sense Initiative Announces 2025 Summer Children Reading Camp in Abeokuta.

The SixthSense Initiative is pleased to announce its flagship annual literacy event, the 8th edition of Summer Children Reading Camp (SCRC) 2025, scheduled to take place from August 3 to 9, 2025, at WOOTEN Hall, Baptist Girls College, Idi-Aba, Abeokuta, Ogun State.

The seven-day indoor camp will bring together boys and girls between the ages of 8 and 15, offering them a secure and interactive learning environment where they will engage in reading, learning, teaching, sharing, chatting, and grooming sessions.

Designed around the belief that “children that read together will think together to solve common problems together,” the camp fosters unity, critical thinking, and creativity. It will feature structured reading activities, peer interaction, optional reading modules, and mentorship sessions handled by morally sound and disciplined facilitators.

The Summer Children Reading Camp (SCRC) is also a twin programme of the Children Reading Competition Programme (CRCP), aimed at instilling a lifelong love for books, improving literacy skills, and building character.

This impactful initiative is the brainchild of Abiodun Oladimeji Lasile, Coordinator of Sixth Sense Series Publications and Founder of The SixthSense Initiative, an organisation committed to human capacity development, nation-building, and the use of reading as a tool to raise future leaders equipped to confront tomorrow’s challenges with clarity and courage.

"Our vision is clear — to raise a generation of thinkers, doers, and nation builders through reading."

“Reading goes beyond academics. It develops the mind, expands imagination, and prepares children for the leadership roles ahead of them," Lasile said.

Beyond its academic and developmental objectives, the programme also opens its doors to sponsorship, partnership, donation, advertisement, and volunteer participation from corporate bodies, NGOs, media platforms, education stakeholders, and individuals interested in supporting youth development.

All interested sponsors and partners are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to invest in the future by supporting a cause that blends education, leadership, and moral development in one impactful experience.

Let’s jointly groom tomorrow’s leaders through reading, today!
