_... Access Holdings Chairman, Aig-Imoukhuede, CFR, to Deliver Convocation Lecture_
The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Africa’s leading University of Agriculture, has announced the programme of activities for its 33rd Convocation Ceremony, underscoring its enduring commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and national development.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Olusola Babatunde Kehinde, on behalf of the Governing Council, Senate, Management, Staff, and Students, extends a formal invitation to stakeholders, alumni, parents, guardians, and friends of the University to participate in the week-long celebration scheduled to hold from *Friday, January 23 to Saturday, January 31, 2026* .
The celebration starts with Jumat Service on Friday, January 23, 2026, at the University Mosque by 1:00 p.m.
Activities would continue on Sunday, January 25, 2026, with an Interdenominational Service at the Chapel of Grace, FUNAAB, by 10:00 a.m. This would be followed by a Press Conference on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at the Red Chamber, beginning at 10:00 a.m.
On Friday, January 30, 2026, the University would commission various projects across designated project sites at 10:00 a.m., while the Convocation Lecture would take place later the same day at the Red Chamber by 3:00 p.m.
The week-long activities would culminate on Saturday, January 31, 2026, with the Convocation Ceremony, featuring the Award of First and Higher Degrees, Postgraduate Diplomas, and the presentation of prizes, scheduled to be held at the Professor Oluwafemi Balogun Ceremonial Building by 10:00 a.m.
A major highlight of the ceremony is the Convocation Lecture titled “Integrating Agriculture and Youth Development: A New Paradigm for the Nigerian Education System.” The lecture would be delivered by Mr. Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede, CFR, Chairman of Access Holdings Plc, a globally respected investor, banker, and philanthropist.
Mr. Aig-Imoukhuede served as Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Access Bank Plc from 2002 to 2013, where he spearheaded the transformation of the institution into one of Nigeria’s top-tier financial services groups. Widely recognised for his leadership in corporate governance, economic reform, and philanthropy, he is expected to bring far-reaching perspectives drawn from his extensive experience in the private and non-profit sectors.
His lecture is anticipated to stimulate robust dialogue on the role of agriculture-driven education and youth empowerment in shaping sustainable development outcomes, in line with FUNAAB’s mission to produce globally competitive graduates capable of driving innovation and socio-economic transformation.
