GROUP RECOMMENDS SUSTAINABLE EMPOWERMENT OPPORTUNITIES FOR YOUTH AND WOMEN



Ogun State Business Advocacy Group (OGUNBAG) established as a viable platform for Public- Private Dialogue in other to influence policies and improve Business Enabling Environment for investment and business expansion in Ogun State recently held it's 5th Annual General meeting in Abeokuta, Ogun State with the Theme: Capacity Building and Empowerment; a Panacea for women and Youth Employment

Declaring the Conference open the Chairman of the Group Otunba Babs Adesanya in his welcome remarks implore Government to do more in it's quest to reduce unemployment through capacity building and provision of sustainable opportunities for young people and women as a form of Empowerment in other to grow the Socio economic environment while reducing the rate of unemployment.






The Keynote Speaker Engr. (Dr) Akinpelu Shogunle who is the MD/CEO of Highlander Engineering Limited posited that the best way to eradicate poverty and drastically reduce poverty is to empower young people and women to be job creator through Enterprise education.

He further stated that Helping young people and women to earn a living through entrepreneurship can make a crucial contribution to poverty reduction.





Also speaking the Assistant Director of Ogun State National Youth Service Corps (NYSC( Rev. Dr Samson Oluwole representing the State Coordinator Dr Melinda Faniyi emphasized the need for the Public and Private sector to invest in skills acquisition and entrepreneurial development in other to bridge the increasing unemployment gap. He furthered states that a nation capacity is benchmarked on the investment of critical stakeholders in the  Enterprising Skills of it's youth and women.

The Honourable State Commissioner in the Ministry of Industries, Trade and Investment Mrs Kikelomo Longe ably represented by Mr Ariyibi Olalere, the Director of Commerce within the Ministry appealed to all stakeholders to partner with the Government of Ogun State, the  Ministry and other relevant agencies of Government in the area of economic empowerment as envisioned by the Prince Dapo Abiodun CON led administration through vocational training, skills acquisition and any other enterprising activities aimed at promoting wealth and building the capacity of young people for sustainable development.

Goodwill Messages were delivered from other invited groups such as Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMADC), National Association of Small Scale Industries (NASSI), Ogun Atate Cooperative Federation and Development and many more



The Conference witnessed the swearing in ceremony of Mr. Ola-Davies Olatunji Olakunle as Incoming Chairman and other executives among who are Mr. Abiodun Dimeji Lasile (1st Vice Chairman), Mr. Gbolahan Akintobi (2nd Vice Chairman), Mr Babatunde Soaga (General Secretary), Mr Cyrus Johnson (Treasurer), Mr Ifeoluwa Adesanya (Public Relations Officer), Mr Sheriff Olaleye (Assistant General Secretary), Mr Olakunle Akinbogun (Auditor), Mr Olusola Kehinde Adediran (Ex-officio) and Otunba Babs Adesanya (Immediate Past President and Ex-officio)
